ABSTRACT
The dropping of the atomic bombs were both unjustified and immoral. We as the United States had no right to kill so many innocent people and destroy so many buildings. In all two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan. These two bombs were unlike anything people could have imagined. Not only did it have a crippling blast force, but it also emitted radiation that in the long run was the real killer. The first city to be hit was Hiroshima which was bombed by “Little Boy”. Researchers have often argued over how many were killed but it is close to over 150,000 people died by the end of the year, not to mention those who survived and died of radiation poisoning later. The second city that was bombed was Nagasaki it was hit by “Fat Man”. In this bombing it is still uncertain however its estimated that over 80,000 had died by the end of the year. Not all that was destroyed by the bombs were lives but also 50,000 buildings. All of these deaths make up 10% of all the lives lost in WW2 combined and to think we killed that many in such little time just to prove our power.
